Work Package

Also known as: WP, Work Pkgs

A planned unit of work that groups related Deliverables, with a Responsible Person, schedule, budget, and status.

Full Definition

Teams use Work Packages to plan how and when Deliverables will be completed. Each Work Package has a status of Planning, Submitted, Active, or Completed, and shows whether it is ahead of schedule, on time, behind schedule, or overdue.

Deliverables can be edited from a Work Package as well as from the carousel. On screen, the Solution Site tab is labeled Work Pkgs.

Program staff, who usually hold the Portfolio Administrator or Portfolio Manager role, and mentors can monitor each Work Package's progress against the time elapsed from the Portfolio Site. They can see at a glance which teams are ahead or behind and follow links to the underlying work.

Example

A team creates a Work Package for its first usability study, links the related clinical workflow Deliverables to it, sets a start date and budget, and assigns a Responsible Person.
