Key Activities

Also known as: Core Competencies, Critical Activities

H-BMC Block 11 — the critical activities the company must perform to deliver its value promise and execute its business model.

Full Definition

Key Activities are the things the company must do well to make the business model work. They are the activities that differentiate the company and that cannot be reliably outsourced without losing competitive advantage or quality. For healthcare innovators, Key Activities often include clinical evidence generation, regulatory management, health system sales, and product development — and the relative priority of these shifts as the company matures.
Example
For a SaMD company: Key Activities are algorithm development and validation, FDA submission management, clinical integration support, and health system account management. These are the activities that determine whether the business model works.
