VERITAS stands for Verified Exploratory Research through Iterative Targeted Authentic Stakeholder engagement. The 12 rules are organized into four severity tiers based on the type and damage a violation causes: Data Destroyers (fatal), Data Distorters (severe), Data Clarifiers (quality control), and Signal & Access (missed insight). The rules have evolved over 10 years through use in the CRAASH and other GAITS programs.
Example
A team using VERITAS conducts 12 interviews without introducing their solution, without seeding context, and without interpreting responses mid-interview. The data they collect reflects stakeholder reality rather than the team's prior beliefs.
