Wilbur A. Lam, MD, PhD |
Wilbur A. Lam, MD, PhD is a physician-scientist-engineer trained in clinical pediatric hematology/oncology as well as bioengineering with appointments at Georgia Tech, Emory University School of Medicine and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. He has specific research experience in micro/nanosystems and microfluidic technologies and has unique experience in advancing biomedical research with a specific focus on the cellular mechanics of hematologic processes and diseases. Dr. Lam’s group is also dedicated toward translating technologies from bench to bedside as novel diagnostics and therapeutics. To date, he was co-founded 3 startup companies (2 focused on POC diagnostics and 1 focused on targeted drug delivery systems). Recently, one of the companies received FDA 510(k) clearance for a color-based, disposable POC anemia diagnostic device. With his clinical, scientific and engineering background and expertise in medical innovation, he will assist project teams in the overall strategy for their POC technologies, refinement of their technologies, identification of clinical/translational needs, and execution of project milestones. |
