Without a deliberate close, the data collected reflects only what the interviewer thought to ask. The most important finding may be the one the questions never reached. A strong close recovers missed insights, expands the stakeholder network through referrals, and establishes permission for future contact.
Example
'Is there anything important I should have asked but didn't?' has surfaced critical findings in interviews where the structured questions produced little. 'Who else would you recommend I speak with?' has led teams to their most valuable subsequent interviews.
